In cases of communication issues, please attempt the Solis Warm Test. This is a tool to confirm Modbus communication from their Solis inverters.
“Warm Test” PC Software
Equipment required:
- PC computer (PC only, no Mac).
- A USB to RS485 converter.
- Section of comm wire that can be used to join the RS485 converter tothe RS485 terminals in the inverter (unland any existing RS485 wires first).
Instructions:
1. Insert the four-wire terminal on the end of the cable into the corresponding four-pin terminal of the inverter and the other end USB into the USB port of the computer.
2. Right-click the Windows icon on the bottom left corner of the screen, then click on “Device Manager” to view the COM port that is opened for the RS485 converter. (In this example, it is COM3).
3. Double-click the “WarmTest” application to open the software.
4. Click the “Setting” menu and then “COM Range" menu.
- Enter the COM range start value in the“Begin COM Port” field. Enter the COM range end value in the “End COM Port” field.
- Note that both the start and end values are required. For example: if “Begin COM Port: 1, End COM Port: 3,” the software automatically searches for COM1, COM2, COM3. (The range here must include the address of the open port on your PC).
5. Click the “Setting” menu, then the “AddressRange” menu.
- Enter the address range start value in the“Begin Device Address” field, and enter the address range end value in the “End Device Address” field.
- Note that both the start and end values are included. For example: if “Begin Device Address: 1, End Device Address: 4” is entered, the software automatically searches for addresses 1, 2, 3, and 4. (The range here must include the address of the inverter in question, as viewed inthe Inverter Settings-> Set Address.
6. After setting the “begin” and “end” device addresses, click “OK.” If steps 4 and 5 were performed correctly, the software will automatically communicate with the inverter without further user operation.
- If information from the inverter appears highlighted in green, the inverter is able to communicate normally.
- If nothing is displayed, it indicates a problem with the inverter.
Please share the results for review and Solis will proceed to review and ultimately decide the direction moving forward. Please submit your results here.
