Solis Data Loggers Explained

The Solarman loggers were originally manufactured by Solarman and white-labeled by Ginlong, while the Solis loggers are now directly manufactured by Solis.

Compatibility with Inverters: All Solis loggers are compatible with every Solis inverter, with one exception. The new S6 Hybrid Inverter features a USB port at the bottom instead of a 4-pin plug, meaning it can only work with USB loggers. On the other hand, USB loggers are not compatible with any other Solis inverters, which still use the traditional 4-pin plug. This will remain the case until all Solis inverters transition to USB ports instead of 4-pin plugs.

Identifying USB vs. 4-Pin Ports: It’s easy to determine whether a Solis inverter has a USB port or a 4-pin plug:

• Any model with “S6” in its name features a USB port.
• Models with “5G”, “S5”, or “4G” include the 4-pin plug and do not have a USB port.

Adapters and Future Solutions: We offer a 4-pin to USB adapter, which allows a USB logger to be used with an inverter that has a 4-pin plug. However, I have requested that HQ develop an inverse adapter (USB to 4-pin), allowing 4-pin loggers to be used with USB ports. Unfortunately, this solution is still several months away.

Solis is no longer selling these products in the US, our distributors likely still have stock of these products but we are not promoting them. Solarman loggers do not support remote settings changes or firmware updates. Solarman loggers only support one inverter per logger
