Preventing Frozen Fans and Addressing Fan_H Alarm

Created by Eddie De La Torre, Modified on Wed, Jun 11 at 9:59 AM by Eddie De La Torre

In extremely cold climates, fans can freeze due to inactivity during long, cold nights. Frozen fans trigger the Fan_H Alarm, leading to operational challenges for the inverter. A firmware solution is available to keep fans in intermittent rotation, preventing freezing.

Steps to Resolve Fan_H Alarm

  1. Confirm the Alarm Type

    • Verify the occurrence of the Fan_H Alarm using SolisCloud or the inverter’s HMI.
  2. Install HMI Firmware Update

    • Required Version: HMI Firmware (Version 8A).
    • Source: Firmware files can be downloaded from SolisCloud.
  3. Configure Intermittent Fan Rotation

    • Default Settings:
      • Interval time: 3 minutes.
      • Fan rotation time: 30 seconds.
    • Winter Date Range: Set dates (e.g., December 1 – March 1) to enable this feature only during cold months.
    • Set Temperature: Temperature to start fans may be se in C (Celsius)
  4. Verify the Fix

    • Monitor fan operations during the configured interval to ensure proper functionality.
    • Observe if the alarm is cleared after the update.

Preventive Measures

  • Proactive Configuration: Implement the intermittent fan rotation feature before the onset of winter.
  • Regional Adjustments: Tailor the rotation interval and dates based on the climate of the site.

Client Communication

  • Explain that frozen fans are a known issue in extreme cold, and the firmware provides a preventive solution.
  • Guide the client through configuring fan rotation settings or provide remote support.
  • Emphasize that these settings can significantly reduce the risk of fan freezing and related alarms.
